With a playoff win on the line, Zionsville rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Carmel Greyhounds as they made off with a 6-0 win. Considering the Eagles have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Leah Helton was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Sylvia Mudis was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since May 2nd. Another player making a difference was Hadley Bray, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.
Zionsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carmel only posted a batting average of .091.
