The Clarksburg Coyotes entered their tilt with the Seneca Valley Screamin' Eagles with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Clarksburg came out on top against Seneca Valley by a score of 61-48 on Monday. This was payback for Clarksburg, who suffered a 52-40 loss the last time these two teams met.
Seneca Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brielle Watson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. The matchup was Watson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Breana Vance, who scored five points.
Clarksburg's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. As for Seneca Valley, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-2.
Clarksburg will square off against Gaithersburg at TBD on Friday. Gaithersburg will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 160th, while Clarksburg is ranked 44th). As for Seneca Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Wootton at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
