Daviess County is 9-1 against Apollo since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Daviess County has three straight victories, Apollo has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Daviess County proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 13) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Riverdale 7-5.
The team relied heavily on Avery Morris, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Bennett, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.
Daviess County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters every time they've taken the field this season.
Apollo couldn't beat Central Hardin on Monday even though they stacked six runs on them in the second inning. The Eagles fell just short of the Bruins by a score of 12-11. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by just one run.
Liza Page and Keelan Wettstain did some serious damage despite the final result: Page went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Wettstain went 4-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Arianna Ramirez was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs.
Daviess County's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Apollo, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Apollo's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Daviess County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. It's a different story for Apollo, though, as they've only averaged .277. Will they be able to contain Daviess County's hitters?
Daviess County got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Apollo by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
