If The Washington-Wilkes Tigers were riding high off their 41-14 takedown of the Towns County Indians last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Washington-Wilkes fell 20-10 to Greene County on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 41 points in the game before, Washington-Wilkes couldn't push the score so high this time.
Andrew Meech threw for 61 yards on ten of 17 attempts. Joseph Meyers was his top target, picking up 26 receiving yards. On the ground, Tamari Curry rushed for 62 yards.
Washington-Wilkes' defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 6-4. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Greene County, Lincoln County, and Elbert County. As for Greene County, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
Washington-Wilkes will head out on the road to face off against Johnson County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
