Basketball Recap: Orr Comes Up Short

After a string of four wins, Orr's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to the Wells Raiders. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2018.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Prince Williams, who posted nine points and six rebounds. Dayvon Holman was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Wells found their leader in sophomore Cornell Barrow, who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Jacoby Cail, who had ten points.

Orr's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Wells, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Orr will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Schurz at 5:00 p.m. on January 21st. Schurz is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season. Wells will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Clemente at 5:00 p.m. on January 21st. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wells has four straight victories, Clemente has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
