Glacier is 8-2 against Sentinel since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Wolfpack will head out on the road to challenge the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Glacier's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Sentinel's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Glacier is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Montana's top teams: Helena, who was ranked third at the time (Glacier was ranked fourth). The Wolfpack fell just short of the Bengals by a score of 4-3 on Friday. The match marked the Wolfpack's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Glacier saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Warriner, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Sentinel got the win against Flathead on Tuesday by a conclusive 15-1. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.
Alyssa Hanninen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Hanninen was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Sentinel got a massive performance out of Nina Samoury, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Samoury has posted since back in April of 2024. Brooklyn Wright was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Sentinel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Having lost for the first time this season, Glacier fell to 4-1. As for Sentinel, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Glacier came out on top in a nail-biter against Sentinel in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Wolfpack have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
