Mid-State - South recap Sept. 26, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Coleman, who took down 435th ranked Coleman, 28-26.
Carson City-Crystal moved up to 385 from 492 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Mid-State - South. The Eagles were able to make the jump by beating the Comets 28-26.
Coleman's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Adam Stremlow threw for 250 and three touchdowns and Jacob Kipp had 110 yards receiving. On the ground Tim Anderson chipped in 114 yards. Chris Lovejoy helped Coleman's passing attack out by catching four balls for 91 yards.
Mitch Myler provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Sacred Heart Academy topped Montabella. He completed 10 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 58 yards. Myler's favorite target this week was Nick Hire, who caught four passes for 93 yards.
The Irish's Myler and Dustin Neyer have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Myler has thrown for 1276 yards this season, while Neyer, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 24 catches for 464 yards. Anderson from Chad Klopf 's team leads the league in rushing with 828 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Vestaburg takes on second place Sacred Heart Academy. Last week, Vestaburg beat Ashley, while Sacred Heart Academy defeated the Mustangs.
Carson City-Crystal was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in Mid-State - South. Earlier in the week, Jason Gray's team defeated the Comets 28-26.
