The Cordova Wolverines scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They walked away with a 77-68 win over Ninilchik. With that win, Cordova brought their scoring average up to 51.8 points per game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cordova to victory, but perhaps none more so than John Itliong, who scored 13 points along with nine assists. That's the first time this season that Itliong posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Noah Pearson, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Cordova and bumps their season record up to 2-3. As for Ninilchik, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cordova and Susitna Valley will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Susitna Valley is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Ninilchik, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kalskag at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
