Lamar County moved up to 238 from 269 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A Region 4. The Bulldogs were able to make the jump by beating Cold Springs 42-26.
Aliceville and Hatch played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Aliceville eventually emerging with a 49-46 victory.
The Bobcats' dynamic duo of De'Rodrick Norfleet and Brandon Jones proved tough for the Yellowjackets to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Norfleet threw for 240 yards and five touchdowns and Jones had 156 yards receiving. Tra Wilkins Jr. helped Hatch's passing attack out by catching five balls for 61 yards.
Dallas Cockerham was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 10 carries, he ran for 72 yards as Lamar County lost to Aliceville. Alex Wheeler also contributed to the rushing game with 43 yards on the ground.
Jammie Abrahams' team's Norfleet and Jones have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 2A Region 4 in both passing and receiving yards. Norfleet has thrown for 1362 yards this season, while Jones, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 29 catches for 750 yards. Ken Adams' team's Cockerham leads the league in rushing yards with 632.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Yellowjackets take on Oakman. As it stands, Aliceville is in third, while the Wildcats are in first.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Hale County takes on Sulligent. The Wildcats have allowed 145 points this season, while the Blue Devils have given up 156.
Sulligent took down Marion 28-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
