The Collins Tigers waltzed into their matchup Saturday with four straight wins but they left with five. They snuck past Jefferson Davis County with a 49-45 win. That's another feather in the cap for Collins, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Collins to victory, but perhaps none more so than Latreyveon Lowe, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Willingham, who scored seven points along with eight steals and five assists.
Collins pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Jefferson Davis County, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8.
Collins will play host again and welcome Mize, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jefferson Davis County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Seminary at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. Seminary is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
