The Newfane Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Akron Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Newfane will be looking to extend their current 16-game winning streak.
Newfane stacked a 13th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 65-38 victory over Royalton-Hartland. Given Newfane's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while Royalton-Hartland is ranked 726th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Nate Snow, who scored 30 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Landon Braman was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Akron has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 62-55 to Notre Dame last Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Newfane's win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1. As for Akron, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-4.
Everything came up roses for Newfane against Akron in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 73-43 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Newfane since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
