The Brookland-Cayce Bearcats will square off against the Aiken Fighting Green Hornets at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Brookland-Cayce's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Aiken has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Brookland-Cayce lost a heartbreaker the last time they played North Augusta, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. Brookland-Cayce blew past North Augusta 8-1 on Friday. The Bearcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.

Preston Coggins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Austin Rhodus, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Maddux Medeiros was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Brookland-Cayce always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Aiken didn't have quite enough to beat Gray Collegiate Academy on Friday and fell 3-2.
Aiden Morris was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Morris wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Rarey, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Brookland-Cayce is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. Aiken's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Aiken's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Brookland-Cayce has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. It's a different story for Aiken, though, as they've only averaged .357. Will they be able to contain Brookland-Cayce's hitters?
Brookland-Cayce skirted past Aiken 2-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Does Brookland-Cayce have another victory up their sleeve, or will Aiken turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
