The Los Altos Eagles will face off against the Homestead Mustangs at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Los Altos is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4  runs per game  this season.
If Los Altos beats Homestead with five  runs on Thursday, it's going to be the  squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two  matchups with that exact score. The Eagles beat Mountain View on Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game:  5-2. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Spartans on their field since May 4, 2022.
 Kaylyn Cox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned  (and one unearned) run on ten hits.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Sabrina Neal, who  went 2-for-4 with two  stolen bases, two  runs,  and two  doubles. That's the most  stolen bases  she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of  Lily Whiting, who  got on base  in three of her four plate appearances with one  run.
Meanwhile, Homestead had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They never let the Firebirds get on the board and left with  an   8-0  win.
The result came thanks to  Mackenzie Smith's shutout, as she gave up just a  hit and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in three consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side,  Elisa Coyle was  incredible,  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances with two  stolen bases, two  runs,  and two  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Cierra Hagan, who  went 2-for-4 with two  runs, one  double,  and one  RBI.
 Homestead's victory was  their fourth straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 10-4. The  road  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Los Altos,  the  victory made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 11-9.
Thursday's   contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Los Altos hasn't had any issues making contact this season,  having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Homestead struggles in that department as   they've  averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
