Baseball Recap: Lima Senior Gets the Win

Lima Senior had won three straight at home, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 7-8 to make it four. They skirted past the Bowsher Rebels 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted against the Rebels since April 11, 2023.

Emmanuel Jokinen-Rutz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Jokinen-Rutz wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Blake Hahn, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Riley Miller was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

As for Bowsher, they now have a losing record of 7-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered against Lima Senior since April 11, 2023.

Like Lima Senior, Bowsher also got a great game from a two-way player: Sean Hartford. On the mound, he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs Hartford has allowed since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Lima Senior is taking a road trip to square off against Trotwood-Madison at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bowsher, they will host Woodward at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Polar Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21.33 runs per game on average), something the Rebels will no doubt try to take advantage of.
