Saranac hasn't had much luck against Beekmantown recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Spartans will face off against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Saranac had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt AuSable Valley on Friday. The Spartans blew past the Patriots 16-2. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won eight in a row.

Austin Lareau made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Saranac got a massive performance out of Adrian Barnes, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Zack Lucia also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Saranac was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Beekmantown). They put the hurt on Northern Adirondack with a sharp 20-1 win on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Like Saranac, Beekmantown also got a great game from a two-way player: Sully Loughan. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Loughan was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Parker Broughton and Steven Bronson did most of the damage at the plate: Broughton got on base in four of his six plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Bronson went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Bronson is becoming a predictor of Beekmantown's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Cal Anderson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.
Saranac pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Beekmantown, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Saranac has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. However, it's not like Beekmantown struggles in that department as they've averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Saranac was able to grind out a solid win over Beekmantown in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 6-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
