The Milford Bearcats can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They walked away with a 38-26 victory over Schlarman. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Milford also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Milford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hunter Mowrey led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. Mowrey is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kami Muehling, who scored seven points along with eight steals.
Schlarman lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Devyn Gose, who scored two points along with six rebounds and four steals. It was the first time this season that Gose grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Briggs, who scored four points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
The victory got Milford back to even at 13-13. As for Schlarman, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.
Milford will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Iroquois West at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Milford focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday. As for Schlarman, they will head out on the road to take on Westville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westville is coming into the contest with six straight losses at home, so Schlarman is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
