Basketball Recap: Henry Washington Key Part of a Team Effort in Coyotes Win

Orange Vista's tournament run continued when they took on Foothill on Friday. The Orange Vista Coyotes managed a 57-53 victory over the Foothill Falcons. The win was all the more spectacular given the Coyotes' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 227th in California, while the Falcons are ranked 32nd in Nevada).

Orange Vista's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Henry Washington, who posted 11 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. The dominant performance also gave Washington a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Eric Wooten, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Foothill's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Zion Mosby, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds, and Dejon Townsend, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points and five rebounds. Townsend continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Packer Kelley, who put up seven points and five rebounds.

Orange Vista has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.1 points per game. As for Foothill, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.

Orange Vista will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Canyon Springs at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Orange Vista is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.3 points per game this season. As for Foothill, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-51 victory against Rancho Dominguez on the 28th.
