Long County had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 28-27 victory over the Vidalia Indians. The Blue Tide have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Indians on Friday, too.

Cortney Charles was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 117 yards and one score on only nine carries, and also picked up 69 receiving yards and one TD. Those 117 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

After each having a week off, Long County and Johnson will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 28th. The match will give the Blue Tide their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Vidalia, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 28-8 defeat against Screven County on the 22nd.
