Morris won the last time they faced Wilmington and things went their way on Friday too. The Redskins blew past the Wildcats 12-6. The result was nothing new for the Redskins, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Mylie Hughes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off 12 hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Ella Urbasek and Halie Olson did most of the damage at the plate: Urbasek went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Olson went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Urbasek has posted since back in March. Cami Pfeifer was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Morris has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Wilmington, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morris will venture away from home to take on Seneca at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Wilmington, they will head out to face off against Rich Township at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Raptors have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
