Dr. Phillips is a perfect 5-0 against Celebration since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Panthers will host the Storm at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Tuesday, Dr. Phillips got the win against Wekiva by a conclusive 14-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.
Reagan Wimberly was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Dr. Phillips let Briana Lohr and Samantha Rome run wild. Lohr went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Rome scored three runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-4. Those five stolen bases gave Rome a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daniela Pomales, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Dr. Phillips always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wekiva only posted an OBP of .350.
Meanwhile, Celebration hadn't done well against Liberty recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Storm blew past the Chargers 22-7. The win was familiar territory for the Storm, who have now won four games in a row.
The team relied heavily on Ariana Rosado, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Bayona, who scored two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Dr. Phillips' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.0 runs over those games. As for Celebration, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Dr. Phillips has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .504. However, it's not like Celebration struggles in that department as they've averaged .602. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dr. Phillips took their win against Celebration in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 13-0 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Storm have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
