Tyler Classical Academy has struggled against Leverett's Chapel recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Tyler Classical Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson McClean, who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McClean has scored all season. Ethan Jones was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Leverett's Chapel got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Williams out in front who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Williams scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaggar Ward, who scored 12 points.
Tyler Classical Academy bumped their record down to 1-4 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.8 points per game. As for Leverett's Chapel, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.
Tyler Classical Academy will take on Trinidad at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Trinidad comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Leverett's Chapel, they will be playing at home against Christian Heritage at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
