For the first time this season, Pleasant Grove will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Skyridge Falcons at 3:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Pleasant Grove sitting on eight straight wins and Skyridge on three.
Pleasant Grove is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Riverton, who was ranked 24th at the time (Pleasant Grove was ranked fourth). The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Silverwolves 12-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Vikings, who until this match were averaging 2.8 runs allowed.

Mason Hawk Henry made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Kale Dunn was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. R.J. Wilson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Pleasant Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in four consecutive games.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Skyridge and Springville had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Falcons walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Red Devils last Thursday.
Like Pleasant Grove, Skyridge also got a great game from a two-way player: Max Johanson. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Johanson has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Cohen Plewe was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Rip Roberts, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Pleasant Grove's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Skyridge, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pleasant Grove has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .482. However, it's not like Skyridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .483. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pleasant Grove beat Skyridge 8-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
