Youngker (Buckeye, Ariz.) was defeated by
Verrado (Buckeye, Ariz.), 21-10.
After taking the lead on a defensive touchdown, the Roughriders went into halftime with a 10-7 lead. The Vipers took the lead to win the game on a
Ross Dietz touchdown run in the third quarter.
Youngker's lone touchdown came on a defensive touchdown in the second quarter.
The victory avenged Verrado's close 41-38 loss to Youngker last season.
The win was a nice bounce back for Verrado, which lost to Buckeye last week, 32-31. The loss was the fourth in a row for YHS.
Verrado (3-2) goes up against Agua Fria in a III Section VII game matchup next week, while Youngker (1-4) locks horns with Desert Edge also in a III Section VII game.
