Basketball Recap: St. John's Snags 13th Victory in Last 16 Games

St. John entered their tilt with Broken Arrow on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They escaped with a win against the Broken Arrow Tigers by the margin of a single free throw, 52-51. The win was all the more spectacular given the Mavericks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 114th in Texas, while the Tigers are ranked third in Oklahoma).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. John's to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sebastian Williams-Adams, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. That's the most rebounds Williams-Adams has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Callahan, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds.

St. John's is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.1 points per game. As for Broken Arrow, with the defeat, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. John's will welcome Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. As for Broken Arrow, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bartlesville at 8:00 p.m. on January 7th. Broken Arrow is facing Bartlesville at the right time seeing as Bartlesville is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
