The Firth Cougars will face off against the Malad Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Firth's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on West Jefferson with a sharp 10-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.
Quinton Hall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Brycen Andersen was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michael Adams, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Firth hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Malad came tearing into Saturday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Huskies.
The team relied heavily on Cale Briggs, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Malad: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Green, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.
Firth pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Malad, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Firth has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Malad struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Firth might still be hurting after the 17-5 loss they got from Malad in their previous meeting on Wednesday. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
