Battle Mountain hasn't had much luck against Pershing County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Longhorns will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Battle Mountain has five straight victories, Pershing County has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Battle Mountain's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over West Wendover. The Longhorns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Ella Matheus was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Matheus was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Battle Mountain got a massive performance out of Yadira Vazquez, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Halle Edgar, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Battle Mountain hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Pershing County didn't have quite enough to beat Oasis Academy on Saturday and fell 8-7.
Battle Mountain pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Pershing County, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
