Even though The Monticello Billies have not done well against the Crossett Eagles recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Monticello walked away with a 36-26 win over Crossett. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Monticello was the better team in the second half.
Monticello got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ja?quayvius Rhodes out in front who gained 128 total yards. Curtis Barrow got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Crossett's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Max Brooks, who rushed for 48 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 93 yards and a touchdown.
Monticello has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Crossett, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monticello will square off against Highland at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arkansas (Highland is ranked 97th, while Monticello is ranked 72nd). Crossett is on the road again on November 10th and play against Nashville at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Nashville will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
