The Westfield Shamrocks fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Indian Creek Braves on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Braves. Westfield just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
Westfield's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lindsey Van dyke, who scored ten points along with six assists and six rebounds. Aubrey Crockett was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven steals.
Indian Creek had a senior duo take command as Faith Wiseman dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds and Lauren Foster scored 17 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Wiseman hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Alexa Sichting, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds.
Westfield's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 12-8. As for Indian Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Westfield will head out on the road to square off against Brownsburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Indian Creek will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on South Putnam at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. South Putnam will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while Indian Creek is ranked 47th).
