Port Townsend (Wash.) scored 22 points in the first quarter to open up a 22-point lead and cruise to a 48-14 victory over Vashon Island (Wash.) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Matt Cain in the first quarter, the Redskins led 35-0 at the half.
Each side put up seven points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at 35.
Port Townsend's most effective player was
Tim Russell. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored seven touchdowns on the season.
A 46-14 Port Townsend victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The loss was the fourth in a row for the Pirates.
Vashon Island (1-4) will play a 1A Nisqually - Division 1 game against Charles Wright next week, while Port Townsend (4-1) will take on Cascade Christian also in a 1A Nisqually - Division 1 game.
