Texas is 2-8 against Mt. Pleasant since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. Texas will face off against Mt. Pleasant at 12:00 p.m. Texas' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Mt. Pleasant's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Texas is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest defeat since February 19th on Tuesday. They came up short against Hallsville, falling 7-0. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Texas saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Woods, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Mt. Pleasant ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Hallsville 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Kammie Terrell was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over nine innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, A'Leejiah Washington was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.
Mt. Pleasant's record is now 11-7-1. As for Texas, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Texas hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .434. However, it's not like Mt. Pleasant struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
