The Conemaugh Township Indians had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They snuck past West Shamokin with a 45-41 victory on Monday. The win was familiar territory for Conemaugh Township who now have four in a row.
Jon Updyke was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Conemaugh Township's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Matera, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Conemaugh Township's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-3. As for West Shamokin, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
Conemaugh Township will take on River Valley at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. River Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 325th, while Conemaugh Township is ranked 145th). As for West Shamokin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Moniteau at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
