Baseball Recap: First Flight Extends Winning Streak to Five

First Flight entered their tilt with Whiteville on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Wolfpack. The Nighthawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolfpack, too.

Jordan Kempton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, First Flight got a massive performance out of Lance Jones, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Jones a new career-high. Fionn Reilly was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

First Flight's record now sits at 13-6. As for Whiteville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-4 record this season.

First Flight didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-2 defeat against Northern Nash on the 22nd. As for Whiteville, they will challenge South Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Stallions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Wolfpack's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
