Duchesne is 1-9 against North Summit since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Eagles will face off against the Braves at 9:10 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Duchesne is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past Waterford 59-19. The victory was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won three games in a row.
Kira Grant was her usual excellent self, shooting 40% from the field to rack up 20 points along with seven assists and five steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Duchesne's points. Jade Robinson was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to eight boards and three blocks.
They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Duchesne was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2025.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for North Summit on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Maeser Prep Academy out of the water with a 59-23 final score. The win continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won six in a row.
Duchesne better keep an eye on Ellie Stephens. She was instrumental in North Summit's win, dropping a double-double with 27 points and 13 rebounds. Stephens is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 51 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Kate Smith, who posted 11 points and five steals.
Duchesne's victory bumped their record up to 19-5. As for North Summit, their win bumped their record up to 18-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Duchesne has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like North Summit struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 39.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Duchesne ended up a good deal behind North Summit in their previous matchup back in January, losing 64-49. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
