For Purnell Swett, this counts as revenge for the 57-53 defeat the Bears walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Jodi Freeman was nothing short of spectacular: he scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. It was the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Timothy Locklear, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Gray's Creek had strong showings from Ashton Dorsey, who scored 15 points, and Zeek Reed, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Dorsey scored 15 or more points.
Purnell Swett's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Gray's Creek, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Purnell Swett will take on the Colts at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Cape Fear focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. As for Gray's Creek, they will head out on the road to square off against the Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Seventy-First's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matches.
