They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat Crooksville 48-11 at home. That 48-11 margin sets a new team best for New Lexington this season.
New Lexington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makenzy McCoy led the charge by scoring 11 points along with seven steals. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Chloe Dick, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Crooksville saw an underclassman step up: Mylee Davis scored four points along with five rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Crooksville struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
New Lexington now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Crooksville, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6.
New Lexington won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Zanesville at 7:00 p.m. on December 21st. Zanesville is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. Crooksville will take on South Gallia in a holiday battle at 3:30 p.m. on Friday at. South Gallia presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Crooksville in Ohio (South Gallia is ranked 154th, while Crooksville is ranked 678th).
