Volleyball Recap: Westby Extends Winning Streak to Three

While Westby's victory against Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Norsemen had just enough and edged out the Red Hawks 3-2 on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Norsemen, who have now won three contests in a row.

Westby had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 22-25, 24-26, 25-18, 25-18, 15-10.

Emma Kirner was the offensive standout of the game as she had 12 digs and three aces. Those three aces gave her a new career-high. Haidyn Thurin also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Westby was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. They are a perfect 3-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

The victory got Westby back to even at 5-5. As for Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Coming up, Westby will face off against Cassville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau, they will square off against Arcadia at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
