The Rifle Bears entered their tilt with the Coal Ridge Titans with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Rifle took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 54-0 victory over Coal Ridge. Considering Rifle has won six contests by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Rifle can attribute much of their success to Isaac Valencia, who rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Coal Ridge to a paltry 54 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Rifle's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Efren Bustillos and Troy Mataia who racked up five sacks between them.
Rifle's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.3 points per game. As for Coal Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.
Rifle will take on Brush at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Coal Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
