The Sneads Pirates will take on the North Bay Haven Academy Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sneads will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
Sneads is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing FAMU DRS: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Pirates blew the Baby Rattlers out of the water with a 47-8 final score. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 30 points or more this season.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to TyShawn Travis and Jacob Gilcrease. Travis rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown on only five carries while Gilcrease rushed for 82 yards and one score on only seven carries.
Sneads was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 488 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 221 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.
Sneads didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Ronterrious Atkins.
Meanwhile, North Bay Haven Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 35-12 to Bozeman. The Buccaneers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Caleb Muszynski and Hayden Gay. Gay had a great game and threw for 210 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.5 yards per attempt. Meanwhile, Muszynski was balling out in the loss, throwing for 247 yards and one touchdown while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 56 yards.
Even if they lost, North Bay Haven Academy's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Tyler Murzyn was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Murzyn is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season. North Bay Haven Academy got some further help from Noah Powers: he made eight total tackles and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception.
Sneads pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.5 points on average over those games. As for North Bay Haven Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Sneads has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 312.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like North Bay Haven Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 154.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Sneads against North Bay Haven Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 33-6 victory. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Buccaneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
