Softball Recap: Darlington Has No Trouble Against Wilson

Darlington won the last time they faced Wilson and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Falcons blew past the Tigers 15-5. Considering the Falcons have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Malaya Holt made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Holt was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kayden Leonard was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carly Gainey, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Darlington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Darlington's record is now 15-9. As for Wilson, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Darlington will host Marlboro County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Wilson, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Dillon at 6:00 p.m. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
