The Palmdale Academy Charter School Jaguars will square off against the Vasquez Mustangs at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Palmdale Academy Charter School lost 28-16 to Desert Christian two weeks ago. The Jaguars haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Kaitlin Avila was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple.
Meanwhile, while Vasquez put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Desert Christian. The Mustangs blew past the Knights 18-0. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by nine runs or more this season.
Erin Rudd and Daniella Escamilla made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Rudd tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Escamilla tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Rudd scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Escamilla got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kriztina Finley, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Faith Nasrallah, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Vasquez was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Vasquez is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Palmdale Academy Charter School, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
