Slidell came out on top in a nail-biter against Frederick A. Douglass on Tuesday and snuck past 56-54. 56 seems to be a good number for Slidell as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Slidell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaden Hookfin, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and five steals. Hookfin has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Jerry Birdlow was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Slidell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Frederick A. Douglass, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Slidell will take on Tara at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tara will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Slidell is ranked 73rd). As for Frederick A. Douglass, they will be playing at home against Abramson at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Abramson is hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses.
