Basketball Recap: Roncalli Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Will Hegwood and Conner Kesler

Roncalli was the 55-40 winner over Greenwood when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Roncalli Royals took a 53-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greenwood Woodmen.

Roncalli's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Conner Kesler, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds, and Will Hegwood, who went 5 of 10 en route to 12 points. The game was Kesler's third in a row with at least ten points.

Greenwood got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaac O'Neal out in front who posted 13 points. Ethan King was another key player, putting up seven points.

Roncalli has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-5 record this season. As for Greenwood, their record is now 10-7.

Roncalli will host Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 contests. As for Greenwood, they will head out to face off against Greenfield-Central at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
