Basketball Recap: Fossil Ridge Extends Winning Streak to Three

Fossil Ridge won the last time they faced Loveland and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Fossil Ridge SaberCats walked away with a 57-49 win over the Loveland Red Wolves. The victory was familiar territory for the SaberCats who have now won three matches in a row.

Fossil Ridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Drake Walker, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayden Clagett, who posted 12 points and four steals.

When it comes to explaining why Loveland lost, don't look at Zayne Desouza. Despite the final result, he shot 4-for-5 from long range and dropped a double-double on 26 points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave Desouza a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryder Eastin, who posted 11 points.

Fossil Ridge now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Loveland, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2.

Fossil Ridge and Loveland should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. Fossil Ridge (ranked 41st) will meet Fort Collins (ranked 207th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fossil Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season. Similarly, Loveland (ranked 28th) will meet Poudre (ranked 170th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
