It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the New Deal Lions had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 58-0 victory over West Texas. The win was familiar territory for New Deal who now have seven in a row.
New Deal got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Pierre Vasquez out in front who rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Vasquez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Slade Martin, who rushed for 69 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries.
New Deal's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for West Texas, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.
New Deal will take on Cisco at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Cisco is ranked 654th, while New Deal is ranked 634th). West Texas does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
