Basketball Game Preview: Manchester Red Hawks vs. Cheney Tech Beavers

Manchester is 4-0 against Cheney Tech since January of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Manchester Red Hawks will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Cheney Tech Beavers at 6:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Manchester is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest win since February 15th on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Conard with a sharp 84-63 victory.

Manchester had a senior duo take command as Will Oden-Tann posted 31 points along with five boards and three steals and Chance Clark put up 19 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. The match was Oden-Tann's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrick Sheets, who had 11 points.

Meanwhile, Cheney Tech unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 64-56 to Kolbe-Cathedral on Wednesday. The game was a 26-26 toss-up at halftime, but the Beavers couldn't quite close it out.

Manchester will need focus on slowing down Mohamed Camara, one of several Cheney Tech players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 12 points and four steals. Camara is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Ayden Brookins, who put up 16 points.

Manchester beat Cheney Tech 68-61 when the teams last played back in February. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Cheney Tech's Da'Mnic Gittens, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 boards. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for Manchester to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
