Baseball Recap: Quincy Takes a Loss

Quincy was the 7-0 winner over Sterling when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Golden Warriors by a score of 3-2 on Monday.

Drake Gibson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Quincy's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Sterling, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-16.

Looking ahead, Quincy will venture away from home to face off against Quincy Notre Dame at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. As for Sterling, they will welcome Bureau Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
