On Friday, Riverdale was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 58-53 to the Green Wave. While losing is never fun, Riverdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while the Green Wave are ranked 86th).
Despite the loss, Riverdale saw an underclassman step up: Hudson Fuqua scored 23 points. It was the first time this season that Fuqua scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Waymon West, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Riverdale has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season. As for Gallatin, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverdale will take on the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gallatin, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th.
