Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ware Shoals). They blew past the Whitmire Wolverines 82-45 on Tuesday. The Hornets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolverines, too.
Ware Shoals got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayce Medlin out in front who posted 16 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Medlin has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brayden Madden, who had ten points in addition to six assists and five boards.
Medlin wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Ware Shoals was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive matches.
Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Seth Rueter, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayshaun Schumpert, who posted nine points.
Ware Shoals' victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Whitmire, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
Ware Shoals will face off against Dixie at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ware Shoals has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Whitmire, they will square off against Thornwell at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th.
