The Ridgemont Golden Gophers struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (the River Valley Vikings had 17 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Ridgemont received a tough blow as they fell 53-35 to the Vikings. While losing is never fun, Ridgemont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 775th, while the Vikings are ranked 282nd).
Ridgemont's loss came despite strong showings from Anna Ramsey and Jayda Dondrea. Ramsey scored 23 points along with three blocks and two steals, while Dondrea scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two blocks. That was a full 65.7% of Ridgemont's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Laney Elsasser, who scored four points.
River Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lexie Hecker led the charge by scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Halle Snyder, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Ridgemont's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for River Valley, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-9.
Ridgemont will take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Baltimore has now lost 14 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 30. As for River Valley, they will be playing at home against the Tigers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
