Basketball Recap: Tuscaloosa Home Educators Takes a Loss

Tuscaloosa Home Educators lost against Ezekiel Academy back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Tuscaloosa Home Educators Warriors took a 57-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ezekiel Academy Knights. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 326th, while the Knights are ranked 106th).

Defeat or not, Tuscaloosa Home Educators got some senior leadership from Jackson Sodergren and Caleb Farley. Sodergren posted 21 points, while Farley earned 21 points. That was a full 41.2% of Tuscaloosa Home Educators' points, marking the fourth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Colby Brown, who put up six points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ezekiel Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gerard Johnson, who went 5 of 8 en route to 13 points along with seven boards and three steals. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelson Free, who posted 14 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Tuscaloosa Home Educators and nudges their season record down to 5-12. As for Ezekiel Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tuscaloosa Home Educators will take on North River Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ezekiel Academy, they will challenge Victory Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ezekiel Academy has ten straight wins, Victory Christian Academy has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
